"Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore, honor God with your bodies." 1 Corinthians 6:19–20
Food is an essential part of life. The food we ingest into our bodies is meant to give us energy, to support our organs, repair, to help us grow and help us stay healthy. What we choose to put into our bodies directly affects how we feel and how well we function each day.
Somewhere along the way food became like entertainment. Something to do. Something fun.
We traveled the country in search of the best food around the United States. Healthy was not a requirement. High ratings and the best-looking food is normally what caught our eye.
It was fun while it lasted.
Today's a new day. I am grateful for God's grace and hand over my life. I've experienced a paradigm shift in my thoughts about food over the course of these past few months. It is mostly because I've had to in the recovery of my cardiac arrest and A Fib events. I cannot believe my body tolerated me eating that way for 32 years!
Now I am learning how to properly care for my body. Our body is like a car. You will drive it. Its running on the fuel (food & water) you give it. And when there is no more you must stop to refuel. Quality fuel is important, because contaminated fuel will slow you down, and may eventually cause greater further damage to any of the various systems (organs). Now your fuel is back on full, you're driving it before a dashboard symbol appears signaling to you, potential issues with the car. The issue must be properly tended to, otherwise it may turn into a bigger issue.
See I altered my diet eliminating the things that caused me palpations, sugar and salt. Which alone limited me in many foods I was used to consuming. With this I've lose 40 pounds. What flavorful foods that did remain, I increased my intake of, problem is, some of those foods were causing problems in other areas (i.e. cholesterol).
Now my diet is even further refined to just whole grain and whole foods, and other cholesterol lowering ingredients and about 1 1/2-2 liters of High PH water daily.
For the first time, I feel like I am eating with a purpose.
I have direction on what i should eat to properly nourish my body. When I prepare my meals now, there is great attention to detail. There is so much intention in every ingredient placed on my plate. Each playing a prominent role in the goal trying to be reached (lowing cholesterol). Works well because I am very goal oriented.
When I sit down to eat food that I have thoughtfully prepared, I know it is supporting my organs, helping repair my body, keeping me healthy, and giving me the energy to show up as my best self each day.
I would like to be here for years and years to come. Supporting and seeing our children grow. For filling the vows, I made with my husband forever and ever. And I need to be here to do the work God has intended for me building the kingdom of heaven.
Caring for my temple is a very vital piece in seeing this all through.
And that is exactly what I'm planning to do.
