My husband and I were experiencing a significant rough patch, for reasons we'll address another time. Motivated by our inherent love for each other, we started trying different strategies to realign ourselves. One of these was conducting our first Bible study together. Tristan took the lead by preparing our discussion topics and Bible verses. We delved deeper into each topic, aiming to align our beliefs and understand our specific roles within the family as guided by the Bible, and what that means for our family structure.

In today's society, it is not always entirely possible or easy to forfill the duties of either end. The scriptures are here to serve as a templete. Of course, with God all things are possible. If it is made a priority, in alignment with the will of God, it'll all work out.

In our case, we were placed into a more biblical/traditional alignment with Christ in our marriage as we begin to build our family and the Lord blessed us with a child with special needs. One of us needed to be more available and present in the household. So God helped us work it all out.

So the Lord God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man’s ribs and then closed up the place with flesh. Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man.
Genesis 2:21-22

Simply an excellent starting point for delving deeper into the earliest example we have of a marriage. And lye memorized by the depths of details inserted into God’s beautiful creation of marriage bringing a man and woman together as one.

The rest of our discussion points/topics of discussion, went as follows.

  1. Respect and Submit to Her Husband

"Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church... Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything." Ephesians 5:22-24:

2. Love Her Husband and Children

4. Exhibit a Gentle and Quiet Spirit

"Wives, in the same way submit yourselves to your own husbands so that, if any of them do not believe the word, they may be won over without words by the behavior of their wives... Your beauty should not come from outward adornment... Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight." 1 Peter 3:1-4

No different then any other relationship, perception differs from one individual to the next, this still is true in a marriage. Where as you may think a specific verse reads one way and means one thing, your spouse may see it a different way.

You’ll be surprised of the conversation points that surfaces while reading through these together. When we have an issue, I consult the Lord and the Bible first. When we decided to marry as one under God, this became a biblical thing. And he is who will get us through, forever TOGETHER.

As we studied these scriptures, they became the foundation that helped us realign and strengthen our marriage through faith. We wanted to share them in a way that could bless other couples walking this same path.
